After playing a vampire in three movie installments of the highly popular Twilight series, Kellan Lutz is set to take on the role of a different kind of immortal.  He has signed on to play the sea god Poseidon in a new film called War Of The Gods, which has been in development for the last two years.  However, actual production of the movie hasn’t started yet and it was once thought to be a film rival to the upcoming Clash Of The Titans.

Also on the film’s cast list is Henry Cavill as Theseus and Mickey Rourke as Hyperion.  The story of the film focuses on Theseus’ struggle to prevent the Titans led by Hyperion from starting a war with the gods of Greece.  Furthermore, Poseidon will be an ally coming to aid Theseus during the movie.

Tarsem Singh will be directing this film and he plans to begin shooting in April.  However, the script itself was developed by writer Jason Keller, who recently finished an existing draft as production prepare to start next month.
