Oliver Stone takes the helm on Savages

March 5th, 2010 in Directors, Drama -

12533It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Oliver Stone since W, and after Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is wrapped up, he will have a new film known as Savages.

This film is based on Don Winslow’s novel, about two friends in a California beach community who grow marijuana and each have a girlfriend (the same one). After a somewhat comfortable life of sex and drugs, their world is invaded by the Mexican cartel. Yes, they kidnap the girlfriend and want all the pot. Instead of paying off the ransom and cutting their losses, the two main characters decide to take revenge…

Considering how Stone made a name for himself with his controversial films like Nixon and JFK, I’m surprised that he wanted to take on a film like this. Stone has done gratuitous violence before with Natural Born Killers, and it would appear that he going back to those particular roots.

Son of Wall Street, former Yalie Oliver Stone

can’t seem to get enough of his done-to-death

    destructive cultural incest themes

    -EVEN AS

GENUINE veteran STONE manages, along with RED China

suck-up Hollywood, to, again, ‘mysteriously overlook’

    the staggeringly relevant, urgently important

60th Anniverary of the KOREAN WAR —-this year.

In this he’s reading from the very same denial

playbook as BOGUS ‘America-Firsters’ a la Pat ‘RED China apologist biz-nihilist’ Buchanan.
