MV5BMTU0OTQ1NjY2OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzM5MTMyMw@@._V1._SY140_I don’t really follow who wins the Best Documentary Short, but last night’s presentation created a lot of drama to put documentary filmmaker Roger Ross Williams into an unexpected spotlight.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the spotlight that he probably deserved. During Williams’ acceptance speech for Music by Prudence, Elinore Burkett came on stage pushed him away. Elinore Burkett was a producer of the now award-winning documentary, with an emphasis on was.

In fact, she had creative differences with Williams, which they were able to settle out of court. By settling, I mean she left the picture and her name doesn’t even appear on the credits.

Yet there she was, on stage, “pulling a Kayne” on Williams, as the director stated in a later interview.

I believe that I complimented Sandra Bullock in an earlier article for how she kept a great face in receiving a Razzie just before she won an Oscar. However, what Elinor Burkett did is just appalling.
