MV5BMTg3NDQyMDcyNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMjEyNTE0._V1._SY140_Writer/Director John Singleton just got the go-ahead for a new film project called Abduction.  Of course, Singleton is well known for his work on successful films such as Boyz in the Hood, Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Four Brothers. He has also been nominated for two Oscars during the course of his career.

Abduction is an action movie that will be similar to the films of the Jason Bourne trilogy and Twilight star Taylor Lautner has already been signed on to join the cast of Singleton’s new film.  After fighting a bidding war that took an entire week back in February, Lionsgate won the rights to the script for Abduction.  Recent rumors suggest that this film project could be worth up to one million dollars.

The film’s story focuses on the life of a teenager named Nathan has felt estranged from his parents for a long time.  In the course of the movie, he soon finds out that his life has been a lie when he stumbles across a baby photo of himself on a missing person’s website.  This leads to the revelation that the people who raised him are not his birth parents but actually kidnappers who abducted him when he was a child.  Thus, he is joined by his girlfriend as he begins a quest to uncover the truth behind his kidnapping and his true family.  However, this sets a series of events in motion in which Nathan and his girlfriend become hunted targets as he searches for the truth.  It was also reported that Abduction is a film intended to combine elements from Hitchcock films and movies like Disturbia.
