Also joining the Smurfs‘ cast will be sexy pop star Katy Perry as the film’s leading lady Smurfette.  Other actors such as Alan Cumming and George Lopez will also lend their voices as members of the Smurf clan.  Sources have also told EW.com that Jayma Mays, known for her role as a guidance counselor on Glee will be playing the wife of Neil Patrick Harris’ character.  Leading this film project is director Raja Gosnell, who is known for the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

The film’s story will focus on how the lives of Mays and Harris’ characters change when they meet the small race of blue forest dwellers.  New York City’s Central Park will be the setting where the movie takes and production is set to start in April.
