Alex Pettyfer Joins The Cast Of ‘I am Number Four’
With his upcoming film, Beastly, due to hit theaters in September, British actor Alex Pettyfer is definitely set to establish his career in the United States. Now he’s been signed on to star in a new film called I am Number Four. The movie will be done by known friends Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.
Furthermore, the film is being produced by Dreamworks Studios. The story is based on a novel about high school and aliens written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. Pettyfer will play the role of an alien who comes to Earth with other members of his race as the survivors of his planet’s destruction caused by a hostile species. Then Pettyfer’s character tries to hide on Earth, disguised as a teenager. Later, he comes to realize that the same hostile species that destroyed his planet has arrived on Earth to come after him.
This film could be considered a mixture of elements from science fiction tv shows such as Roswell and The Faculty. The movie may also be affected by elements of the Superman mythology, considering that Smallville writers and creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are the ones who wrote the script. DJ Caruso is directing the project and that seems fitting since he’s done teen-based work in film and television with titles such as Dark Angel, Smallville, Eagle Eye and Disturbia on his resume.
