Bruckheimer and Disney Take ‘Lightspeed’

On May 25th, 2010

spaceshipJerry Bruckheimer and Disney  have nabbed a space opera pitch from screenwriters Terry Rossio and Bill Marsilii for low-seven figures against $3.5 million. If you do your  math, that is a huge amount of money by Hollywood standards. The space opera is called Lightspeed.

Variety states the story centers on “a young pilot who makes the Earth Interstellar Racing Team and must take his ship on a perilous journey  across the galaxy on the brink of war.”  The  plan is to develop the film as a live-action 3D movie.

Bill Marsilii last worked with Rossio on Déjà vu. Rossio’s resume includes Shrek, the Pirates of the Caribbean films, National Treasure, Little Monsters, Aladdin, Godzilla, Small Soldiers, and  Antz.
