Focus Features sent me an update on the George Clooney thriller The American.  The movie is directed by Anton Corbijn. I was ecstatic when I saw Corbijn’s work on the movie Control, so I am excited about this one, too.    

So, check out the trailer and see if you notice some similarities in style. What I first noticed was the dryness to his filming. Sounds funny but it’s not pulpy. 

Also, what is really cool is that director Anton Corbijn has been keeping a blog of his experiences working on the film.  His blog is regularly updated and can be read here: The American.  Although, it appears he hasn’t updated it for awhile. It’s a cool read, though.

The American opens in movie theaters September 1, 2010.
