Andrew Dominik to “Tell No One”

A few years ago a tense French thriller called Ne Le Dis รก Personne (or Tell No One) wowed critics and made an impressive chunk of change in the US for a limited release. Almost every moderately successful foreign film is plunged into development as an English-language remake with huge stars and diminishing quality. And Tell No One is no different. However, after months of development hell for a variety of factors, new news has emerged that Andrew Dominik is working on the script and may possibly direct.

Tell No One is the story of Alex, who is still coming to terms with the murder of his wife several years ago. Strange emails appear claiming to be his killed wife, and Alex embarks on a strange journey to uncover the truth about her wife. This adaptation is great news for fans of Dominik, whose impressive Australian crime flick Chopper was eventually followed up by the long-in-development The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. And while the latter was a box-office failure, it was nevertheless an excellent exploration of the origins of fame and notoriety in American culture, and boasts Brad Pitt’s best performance. Dominik has been on and off several projects since, but it’s great news to hear he’s working on something to follow up one of the best films of the last decade.
