ACIN brought this segment from CNN to my attention and now you get to learn a little bit about the back story to Back to the Future.  Eric Stoltz, who stars in Caprica (we have a giveaway for that show here), played Marty McFly for 5 weeks before Michael J. Fox was recast in the part. The Robert Zemeckis felt that Eric just wasn’t right for the part. He’s a good actor, but the comic timing wasn’t funny enough.

The Blu-ray release of Back to the Future trilogy arrives on the shelves October 26, 2010.  I have a pretty good assumption that we’ll see more bonus features of Eric using dialogue, so we can really compare the two actors in the part. If that is true, then it will be a great scene study for actors and directors.
