Twilight Zone Season 2 Blu-Ray Review–An Institution Of Science Fiction
Oh folks…folks…do I ever have a treat for you today, thanks to the good folks at Image Entertainment. Because when I hit my mailbox the other day, I found the most terrific thing I’ve found in weeks: Season 2 of The Twilight Zone, on Blu-ray.
Chances are I don’t need to tell most of you about The Twilight Zone. But just in case, here’s the rundown: The Twilight Zone is (and was) easily one of the biggest science fiction institutions of all time. It features host Rod Serling, as he submits for our approval a whole host of episodes, each as widely varied as can be. From the greatest classics, like the Obsolete Man who gets a note of revenge by rendering his tormentor obsolete himself and the diner that’s harboring a few interesting surprises as part of a way station for aliens passing through, to the bizarre Christmas specials like Five Characters in Search of an Exit and Night of the Meek.
Now, the thing you have to bear in mind here is that this is a television box set. And everyone will have their preferences in terms of which ones are good and which ones are not. I personally favor the ones that are a bit more horror than science fiction–the darker-tinged episodes are a little more exciting for me, and indeed, The Twilight Zone will provide. There will also be some light-hearted fare, and it’s certainly not bad, either: Night of the Meek will give you a dose of the Christmas spirit even if you happen to watch it in July.
There’s a reason the SyFy channel runs this series every year on New Year’s Eve: because it’s an unqualified classic. It’s had fans for fifty years or more, and it’ll likely continue to get fans. Everyone knows the familiar bits here: Rod Serling, submitted for your approval, mostly black and white, that familiar doo-do-do-do theme song. And those bits you don’t know–those rare little episodes you almost never see, the occasional colorized bits, the multiple theme sequences–will be welcome and exciting new discoveries.
And if you don’t like some of it, well, never fear: there will be so much here that there will be something you like coming along directly.
The Twilight Zone: Season 2 is great fun for any sci-fi fan, not to mention any fans of classic television. With so much here, it’s hard not to find something to like.
And with that incredible versatility, the Screenhead Ten Scale can’t help but throw this legendary classic a full ten out of ten, partially owing to its success in the current package, and partially owing to the sheer force of its name alone. It’s The Twilight Zone, people…what else can you say about it?

I think I too should get one of this, I love watching Twilight Zone series whether it’s classic, all episodes are great to watch and very entertaining.
