The Universe: The Complete Season Five DVD Review–Getting To Know The Universe Better
The folks out at the History Channel sent on a copy of The Universe: The Complete Season Five, and if you’re in the mood for some spectacularly heavy science, then man, are you in the right place.
The History Channel‘s The Universe: The Complete Season Five is going to take us all over space. Our solar system is just the start of things, and from here, we’re going to go out into some really heavy territory. It starts out with the Seven Wonders of Our Solar System, and segues on from there to discuss time travel, the future of the sun, and, if you can believe it, more. By the time the fifth season of The Universe is done, you won’t look at the night sky the same way ever again.
And I mean that, folks–there are absolutely unfathomable things going on out there. Earth is just a tiny portion of the whole proceedings, and there are things beyond imagination out there. The Universe: The Complete Season Five will give you an incredible look at just what’s going on up there.
There’s even a surprise occasional segment called “Ask The Universe”, in which people send in their questions about the universe and its workings, where certain of them are answered by actual scientists.
While The Universe will be neck deep in the science, don’t worry…it’s not inaccessible. That is, you’ll probably be able to get much of what they’re talking about, even if your last encounter with science was years ago back in school. There’s loads of computer animation in here, and it does a really nice job of illustrating the concepts that they’ll be introducing.
Admittedly, if you’ve got no interest in the science making up our wider universe, or what’s going on past the stars you see every night in the sky, then The Universe: The Complete Season Five will hold no mystery or wonder for you. And frankly, that’s a shame. But if you do have sufficient interest, then you owe it to yourself to check this out and get a look at what’s going on in the wider wilder world out there.
The Screenhead Ten Scale gives History Channel’s The Universe: The Complete Season Five an eight out of ten–it may be niche, but man, does it ever effectively present itself. This is some great stuff right here, and as long as you can sit through the science you’re going to be in terrific company.
