True Grit Took Friday’s Box Office from Little Fockers
Paramount’s True Grit took the box office away from Universal’s Little Fockers on Friday by earning $8.2 million while the Fockers earned $7.8 million.
True Grit’s box office total is $70.4 million and is the only major studio Christmas title to outperform Fockers, which has a box office total of $84.4 million.
However, Universal predicts that Little Fockers will beat out True Grit for the weekend and jump the $100 million mark.
Another interesting and positive note for the Weinstein Company is The King’s Speech beat Fox Searchlight’s Black Swan. King’s Speech grossed an estimated $2.5 million from 700 theaters for a total of $17.6 million.
Black Swan grossed an estimated $1.9 million from 1,553 theaters for a total of $40.9 million, by far the best gross of 2010 for a specialty film released in a platform run.
