Director Ang Lee has nabbed another cast member for his next film Life of Pi. He just signed Tobey Maguire, who is committed to the adaptation of Yann Martel’s bestselling novel “Life of Pi.” The movie joins the actor with the director, with whom he previously worked on The Ice Storm and Ride With the Devil.

According to Variety, newcomer Suraj Sharma stars as the title character, a boy cast adrift in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger. The film co-stars Gerard Depardieu, Adil Hussain and Bollywood actress Tabu, who will play Pi’s mother.

Irr-fan Kan, who starred in Slumdog Millionaire, will play the adult Pi and Maguire will play a writer who interviews him about his life-changing experience.

The movie will be filmed in 3D from a script adapted by David Magee. The movie will be release on December 14, 2012.

Lee told Variety, “I am delighted that Tobey has joined the film. He is one of my favorite actors that I have had the pleasure of working with, and I am so excited that we get to work together for the third time.”
