EXIT_RAT_WILD-thumb2I am happy to announce the newest film by Banksy, the world famous street artist, Exit Through The Gift Shop coming to theaters April 16, 2010.

The movie’s story fascinates me as a film lover because Bansky fiercely guards his anonymity to avoid prosecution. So he has resisted all attempts to be captured on film.

Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy.  Alas! The artist turns the camera back on its owner – with spectacular results.

It’s easy to generalize lobbyists because their jobs are hard to define in simple terms. But when you come across a crooked one like Jack Abramoff, it doesn’t make it any easier to understand what lobbyists do.

Alex Gibney tackles a crooked lobbyist in the documentary Casino Jack and the United States of Money.  The trailer doesn’t simplify the profession, but seems makes it worse. The movie premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival with favorable reviews and will arrive in movie theaters May 7, 2010 as a limited release.

Screenhead has 10 copies of I’m No Dummy documentary to give away.

This whimsical and insightful documentary about ventriloquism examines and dissects the world of “venting”, illustrating that this perceived novelty act is truly an extraordinary art form. Featuring veteran ventriloquists, Tony Award winner Jay Johnson of sitcomSOAP fame, two- time Comedian of the Year Jeff Dunham, Campus Entertainer of the Year Lynn Trefzger, and highly regarded vent historian Tom Ladshaw, the film allows a rare glimpse into the humorous delight and creative invention involved in how ventriloquists do what they do. The skill and influence of legendary ventriloquists Edgar Bergen, Jimmy Nelson, Senor Wences and Paul Winchell are also showcased. It harkens back to a simpler time, at least technologically. A time when the only way something inanimate could speak was through a human voice and not a computer chip, and brings to light that everyone has an inner puppet.

Post your name to enter the I’m No Dummy giveaway. We will pick the winners Monday,  April 19, 2010.

Screenhead latest giveaway is The Indomitable Teddy Roosevelt

“The best executive is one who has sense enough to pick good people to do what he wants done, and self-restrain enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.”

The youngest president in our nation’s history, who brought an unprecedented excitement and power to the office, Theodore Roosevelt’s unique accomplishments are celebrated in The Indomitable Teddy Roosevelt, charging onto DVD April 13 from Infinity Entertainment Group.

The life of America’s 26th president makes any fiction pale by comparison.  His was the life of a magnificent maverick—a man of enormous popularity and legendary achievements.

From the sidewalks of New York to the frontiers of Dakota, from the Spanish-American War to World War I, to his dynamic years in the White House, Roosevelt saw it all. Larger than life, Teddy was a true American hero who changed the country as have few other leaders.

Directed by Harrison Engle and narrated by the late George C. Scott, The Indomitable Teddy Roosevelt is a unique, dramatic documentary, combining remarkable film footage of great historical events, meticulous re-creations and the stirring music of John Philip Sousa – also included on a special 31-track CD, Sophisticated Sousa –  to create a spectacular visual and musical experience.

Screenhead has two copies of The Indomitable Teddy Roosevelt to give away. Post your name and we will pick the winner Saturday, April 18, 2010.

013132136592dCapitalism: A Love Story | Giveaway!

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone says Capitalism: A Love Story is “fireball of a movie that might change your life.”

Moore “skewers both major political parties,” say Claudia Puig of USA Today, for selling out the millions of people devastated by loss of homes and jobs to the interests of fat cat capitalists.

Moore has “dug up some astonishing dirt,” says Brian D. Johnson of Macleans, stories told in the faces of the foreclosed and evicted, in the food stamps received by hungry airline pilots, and in the courage of fired factory workers who refuse to go quietly.

But more than a cry of despair, Moore’s film raises the possibility of hope. Capitalism: A Love Story is “The most American of films since the populist cinema of Frank Capra (It’s a Wonderful Life),” says Dan Siegel of Huffington Post.

“A movie that manages shrewdly, even brilliantly, to capitalize on the populist anger that has been sweeping the nation” Joe Morgenstern of Wall Street Journal

Capitalism: The Love Story hits the streets tomorrow, March 9, 2010. It’s a movie every citizen will want to see.

The winners of the two prizes are  Falon (91) wins First Prize is (1) Capitalism: A Love Story DVD and (1) Baseball Cap – Signed by Michael Moore; and Carol (06) wins Second Prize is (1) Capitalism: A Love Story DVD and (1) Official Mini-Theatrical Poster – Signed by Michael Moore

MV5BMTU0OTQ1NjY2OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzM5MTMyMw@@._V1._SY140_I don’t really follow who wins the Best Documentary Short, but last night’s presentation created a lot of drama to put documentary filmmaker Roger Ross Williams into an unexpected spotlight.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the spotlight that he probably deserved. During Williams’ acceptance speech for Music by Prudence, Elinore Burkett came on stage pushed him away. Elinore Burkett was a producer of the now award-winning documentary, with an emphasis on was.

In fact, she had creative differences with Williams, which they were able to settle out of court. By settling, I mean she left the picture and her name doesn’t even appear on the credits.

Yet there she was, on stage, “pulling a Kayne” on Williams, as the director stated in a later interview.

I believe that I complimented Sandra Bullock in an earlier article for how she kept a great face in receiving a Razzie just before she won an Oscar. However, what Elinor Burkett did is just appalling.
