Video: Exclusive: ‘Your Highness’ Trailer (Mature Audiences)

Your Highness looks gaggingly funny. Sure, its raunchy and over the top, but I like it.

The movie isn’t about tales of chivalry or legends of brave, handsome knights, who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. No, it’s a raunchy story full of laughs about a hero who is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general.

Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world—Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancee before their kingdom is destroyed. Together Thadeous (McBride) his older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon a valiant journey to save the Kingdom.

Please note that you have to be old enough to watch the restricted trailer, so please “tell the truth and shame the devil.”

On behalf of 20th Century Fox and Rovio, I am pleased to announce that Angry Birds Rio is now available worldwide!

The Angry Birds find themselves in the magical city of Rio where they must save their friends Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and the stars of the upcoming Fox motion picture, Rio.

Right now, the game can be downloaded from the App Store for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, from the Mac App Store for Mac computers, and for Android devices in the Amazon Appstore. The game was developed in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, and features the animated stars of the studio’s upcoming film, Rio.

Enjoy the wonderful song sung by a bird:

Rio Angry Bird

Rio opens nationwide on April 15, 2011.

This film clip is funny, and now I am interested in the movie and want to see it. From the makers of the hit Ice Age series, Rio is a comedy-adventure, in 3D.

Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly, living a comfortable life with his owner and best friend Linda in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. Blu and Linda think he’s the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu’s female counterpart.

Not long after they arrive, Blu and Jewel are kidnapped by a group of bungling animal smugglers. With the help of street smart Jewel, and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu escapes.

I was checking out one of the hot racing cars from Cars 2 when I noticed “Learn more about Nomanisan Island” to the right on Disney-Pixar YouTube page.

So, as a curious blogger I clicked on the video and look at what I found, unbeknownst to me! I showed the reel to my daughter and she giggled and laughed. She also pointed out to me that the narrator in this YouTube clip is the same voice as the computer voice on the plane in The Incredibles, “Would you like more cocktail sauce?”

Adventure awaits you and your entire family at Hero Headquarters on Nomanisan Island! Once the secret base of notorious super villain Syndrome, Nomanisan Island has a new look thanks to the Vanquished Villains Redevelopment Fund!

Yes, it is a commercial for The Incredibles, available for the first time, on Four-Disc Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack with digital copy.

The comedy-adventure Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides full-length trailer (a.k.a. #2 trailer) is on the Internet. I like how Disney jumps around during the first part of the trailer, and the second half shows us more of the story. The story seems doable to me. Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane will add some credibility and talent to the third installment of the solid franchise. The other cast members include Johnny Depp, Kevin R. McNally, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin and Geoffrey Rush.

Directed by Rob Marshall the movie will be presented in Disney Digital 3D. Depp returns to his colorful role of Captain Jack Sparrow while crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past.

In this trailer, it seems the mermaids or a particular mermaid plays a key part in the story. I wonder if we will see more details about the mermaids before the movie’s release May 20, 2011.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will work with his Inception director Christopher Nolan once again on The Dark Knight Rises. He will play Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, which Tom Wilkinson played in Batman Begins.

Alberto Falcone is also known as the Holiday Killer, and this brings Nolan’s superhero trilogy full circle. Comic book geeks might say that the character fits with the director’s desire continuity and inclination to pit Bruce Wayne against “realistic” villains, as opposed to cartoonish nemeses from early incarnations of Batman like Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy in Joel Schumacher’s 1997 Batman and Robin.

Gordon-Levitt next stars opposite Natalie Portman in the independent drama Hesher, which opens in theaters this April. He’ll also be seen alongside Seth Rogen in Jonathan Levine’s cancer comedy 50/50 will release on September 30, 2011.

Gordon-Levitt recently wrapped David Koepp’s thriller Premium Rush, which is scheduled to open in January. He’s currently filming Rian Johnson’s science fiction movie Looper with Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt.

I am not quite sure how to take Hop as a movie or as a story. E.B. is the teenage son of the Easter Bunny, and on the eve of taking over the family business, he leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred, an unemployed slacker with his own lofty goals. Feigning injury, E.B. persuades Fred to take him in, and Fred finds himself living with the world’s worst house guest.

Back on Easter Island, E.B.’s former home, a power-hungry chick that has lived in the shadows for far too long has been plotting a coup to take over one of the biggest jobs in the world. You guessed it: delivering Easter eggs. Now that E.B.’s gone, he’s got his chance. As E.B. discovers who he really wants to be and who he’s meant to become, everything will lead him and Fred in an epic showdown to try and save Easter.

Hop includes live actors as well as voice actors: Russell Brand, James Marsden, Kaley Cuoco and Hank Azaria.

Gala is our winner of Screenhead’s giveaway for Timmy Time: Timmy Steals the Show first-ever DVD from the all-new Preschool series on Playhouse Disney from the Oscar-winning creators of Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep! Gala won the Timmy Time DVD and Plush Toy!

Gala says, “My kids love it!”

Fans of the brilliant, Oscar-winning Aardman studios hit children’s series Shaun the Sheep will recognize Timmy as the baby lamb on the farm who is frequently drawn into all kinds of chaotic adventures by the mischievous older sheep. Used to having his way by being “the only lamb in the flock,” Timmy is now heading to preschool with a lot to learn about playing nicely with others, namely his fellow classmates of the furry, feathered and spiky types.

Preschoolers will find both familiarity and fun in Timmy and his friends’ hilarious everyday antics; spilled paint, dealing with beloved blankies and accidentally breaking a window while playing catch (OOPS!). The non-dialogue approach to storytelling and Aardman’s unique and endearing claymation-style animation is perfect for young viewers.

Us folks at Screenhead have been keeping a close eye on the movements of Darren Aronofsky, the maverick film-maker who made distinct films like The Fountain and Pi, and whose most recent film Black Swan won Natalie Portman a big pile of shiney statuettes. We’ve also been somewhat wary of his decision to helm The Wolverine, another X-Men offshoot film.

This week brings news that it somewhat of a relief. Aronofsky has backed out of the project. Despite the opportunities that directing a tentpole movie would have provided, both financially and creatively, Aronofsky is sad to drop out, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His statement reveals that family life (the director has recently split with actress Rachael Weisz and they have a child together) obligations clashed with having to work abroad for the best part of a year, and thus it couldn’t work out.

Some rumours are abound on the interwebs that Aronofsky’s vision may have clashed with the studio’s, as well as Aronofsky’s apparent frustration at the perception that his film would be a direct sequel to 2009′s critically slated Wolverine (it doesn’t help that both star Hugh Jackman). Regardless, this could be an opportunity to see Aronofsky work on more original ideas like Black Swan and The Wrestler.

Fox, who is bankrolling The Wolverine, are still planning to make the film, despite originally aiming to shoot in Japan, which is still in the middle of a nuclear crisis.

I am going to the midnight run of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. My daughter and I went the to the midnight run for Part 1. It was fantastic watching a sold out movie, packed theater of Harry Potter fans. Everyone in the theater loved the movie.

For the final film, my expectations are ten-fold. In January asked if the IMAX theater had started selling midnight run tickets. The concessions stand girl look at me like I was crazy. I guess she’s not a Harry Potter fan.

Now, this behind the scenes featurette seems more like a teaser featurette. I love what the producers and the director are saying about the film. I mean, here we are in March with the movie opening in mid-July. According to the usual methods of promoting a movie, the behind the scenes clips are closer to the opening day of a movie. Frankly, I’d love to see a full-length trailer of Harry Potter 7 – Part 2 with all the bells and whistles.

Something else to note: Harry Potter has a Facebook, of course, and a similar featurette is posted there with pictures from the movie. So, you might want to check that out if you are true Harry Potter fan.

What happens when you get a couple of comic nerds from England to go out to the wilds of the American Southwest and have them meet an alien with “attitude”? Well, it should be godawful, but considering that this will be brought to you by the same guys who brought you Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, well, now you’ve got a whole different story on your hands. And that’s just what you’ll get with Paul, which just hit theaters today.

Paul follows the alien of the same name, who is apparently one of his planet’s scientists, who crash-landed on this planet way back in the fifties. He then spent much of his time between spilling the secrets of intergalactic science and influencing Earth popular culture (he apparently had a whole lot to do with E.T., which explains quite a bit), but once his scientific knowledge runs out, about the only thing he’s got left are his inherent powers, like Predator-style optic camouflage and cellular regeneration, all the kind of thing that most any army would love to have. But Paul escapes, and finds himself in the company of two comic nerds on a tour of alien sites, including the ever-popular Little Aleinn (sic). And along the way, fraught with road trip peril of all types, both alien and Earthlings will learn something about themselves, and each other.

Paul’s greatest joy, and at the same time greatest offense, is that it spends substantial portions of its runtime preaching to the choir. There are a host of science fiction references in here, and some just a smidge obscure (recognize “It was a boring conversation anyway”? If you know what movie that line is from, this movie is for you.). It was a wonder neither Seth MacFarlane nor Seth Green made a cameo. There’s even a mini-Arrested Development reunion in here as Jeffrey Tambor and Jason Bateman show up for roles. But there are so many inside nods here that it almost feels like you’re part of an exclusive club just watching this. If you’re not already a science fiction fan, don’t start here–this won’t win you over–but for the already-fans, it’s a shot of pure awesome straight to the heart of you as you node along with every subreference.

Aside from that, though, there are more than enough laughs for anybody, and not just the in-jokes, but a good old fashioned dose of Pegg And Frost Being Awesome, the kind of thing that made Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz good in the first place. All the conventions are here, and they’re just as tired as ever–the nerds who don’t exercise and aren’t smooth with the ladies, the government agents who are way too forceful for their own good and sadistically delight in it, the deeply unpleasant Deliverance-style rednecks (complete with Deliverance reference!), the Christians who plug their ears and chant “La-la-la-I-can’t-hear-you-la-la” in the face of anything that counters their faith, and so on. Seriously, half this stuff is pulled whole and breathing out of other scripts. But because it’s presented well, it doesn’t feel so unpleasant to watch.

It’s funny, it’s fast-paced, it’s well put together, and there are even bonuses for the sci-fi fan. Perfect? No, of course not–there are too many cliches in here to really be that great, but it will do a nice job of making you smile, and that’s important.

The Screenhead Ten Scale gives Paul an eight out of ten for its sheer dopey charm, though too many cliches keep it from being all it could be.
