Unfortunately, the trailer is not very well made. What I have read about the story seems to be a movie worth seeing. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is directed by Wayne Wang, who also directed The Joy Luck Club.
Snow Flower takes the eastern philosophy of the human spirit and goes much further, celebrating a friendship that lasts more than one lifetime. The movie is based on Lisa See’s bestselling novel of the same name about an extraordinary friendship that is strong enough to last lifetimes.
The movie follows two stories: one story is set in contemporary Shanghai, and the other is set in 19th Century China. The two stories parallel each other with similarities in the unique and binding friendship. Like I said early, the movie looks promising. I hope a better trailer comes out soon.
Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures is out on DVD. These cartoons are my favorite for any afternoon break as they were when I was a youngster. What is really cool is that Warner Bros. has released a whole new collection of Tom and Jerry shorts, a total of 14 short films.
I embedded my favorite below. Every single time I watch these two characters, I wonder why they don’t produce cartoons like these anymore.
“Now son, you understand why dogs hate cats.”
The cat and mouse are at it again, hilariously, as a perturbed pussycat and a mischievous mouse. I totally enjoyed watch the comedic mayhem with my daughter. It’s literally a menagerie of 14 fur-flying dust-ups.
The tussling twosome takes a trip through time (Guided Mouse-ille), to Europe (Neapolitan Mouse) and into space (O-Solar-Meow).
And it’s two against one when Tom’s scaredy-cat cousin George comes to town in Timid Tabby. But Jerry comes out on top time and again in Pet Peeve, That’s My Mommy and Robin Hoodwinked. This collection’s classic cartoons starring your family’s longstanding favorite cat and mouse duo again prove that as their rivalry is never-ending, so are the joy and the laughs they spark!
If you are interested, you can get your very own DVD.
The Warner Archive Collection sent me a copy of Finishing School starring Ginger Rogers as a celebration of her Centennial Birthday.
Finishing School is available for the first time on DVD only from Warner Archives .
The story is a parody on the snobs of society being two-faced. The rules at a finishing school are no smoking, no drinking and no lipstick. As long as you don’t get caught, then you are proper girl and will not disgrace your family name. However, pretty Virginia Radcliffe (Frances Dee) earnestly accepts the strict rules enforced by exclusive Crockett Hall.
But her roommate Pony Ferris (Ginger Rogers) suggest have a smoke, have a drink and have a wild weekend in New York, suggests her roommate Pony Ferris. The rules have nothing to do with the girls’ welfare and everything to do with the school’s reputation.
But, I must admit Rogers is adorable and confident as the third-billed actress, giving pretense a swift kick in the comedy keister as she plays the role of mother-hen to her classmates through a booze-and-bad-boy Manhattan fling. The frank pre-Code storyline even allows innocent Virginia to wind up pregnant…and unpunished. Although the movie never says she is pregnant, they didn’t say such things in movies back then, the story sure did give a big enough hint.
Directed by Wanda Tuchock, Billie Burke (The Witch of the West, The Wizard of Oz) and Bruce Cabot are wonderful as supporting actors.
I am not very impressed with the teaser trailer. Sure, the teaser trailer is a cool way to look at the remake, but I want to see more. An action scene would suffice. Frankly, I liked the motion poster, which I posted last week, better than this teaser trailer because, at least, I had a good look at Momoa as Conan. Here, I don’t see much of anyone, all smoke. I will be happier when I see more. Don’t get me wrong, the trailer is unique and looks awesome, almost magical.
However, it appears, from the dialogue, that Conan the Barbarian will be just that in the 3D motion picture – a barbarian.
Conan the Barbarian 3D is based on Robert E. Howard’s classic character. The movie is being promoted as a remake from the two earlier films. Directed by the Marcus Nispel the movie also includes Ron Perlman and Stephen Lang.
I am sure we will see a longer and more in depth trailer soon. The movie opens in theaters August 2011.
After seeing this trailer, I am excited about Super 8. The movie is written and directed by J.J. Abrams with bulk of the cast under eighteen, which means my daughter can see it. After all, it carries Spielberg’s Amblin logo.
The movie is billed a an upcoming science fiction film starring Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Joel Courtney, Gabriel Basso, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills and Kyle Chandler, due to be released on June 10, 2011 in both conventional and IMAX theatres.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth — something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
First, I liked The Smurf trailer, and now I think Disney’s Prom trailer is way cool, too. The story is typical, but I am a sucker for American High School Prom movies about three couples and a dorky guy hoping for the best and the most important night of their Senior High School.
From watching the trailer, it looks like everyone made their mark. Sure, it’s cute, and so unreal. It is entertainment.
Directed by Joe Nussbaum, who’s made his fair share of teenage movies, the movie follows Nicholas Braun (Sky High) who plays a dorky guy looking for a girl to take to Prom. Aimee Teegarden plays the girl organizing events, and the good looking guy, looks too old for High School, is Dean Norris also appears.
Sure, this movie isn’t West Side Story, but it looks decent and rather sugary, which I haven’t seen from Disney since High School Musical movies. Still, the movie is all fantasy and it would never happen in real life, so enjoy it.
“All we know is that it’s real and it’s happening.”
Directed by Raja Gosnell with a cast of real actors and voice actors, that includes Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara and Anton Yelchin. The story is a little farfetched, but fun nonetheless, when the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours, In fact, they land smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
I can’t believe I am writing this, but the trailer looks great, and I think The Smurfs will be a fun movie for the whole family to watch. It’s interesting that the movie is arriving in August, which is at the end of summer and close to the time when kids are going back to school.
The movie opens everywhere August 3rd, 2011 in 3-D.
The coming-of-age drama Skateland has a new release date, May 13, 2011!
Directed by Anthony Burns the drama includes Shiloh Fernandez, Ashley Greene, Heath Freeman, Brett Cullen and Taylor Handley.
The movie is set against the landscape of upstart malls, Jordache jeans and iconic hang outs. Set in the early 1980s, in small town Texas, the movie takes a candid snapshot of the lives of a close-knit group of friends who are confronted with the realities of the precarious world around them.
The film revolves around a charismatic young skating rink manager named Ritchie Wheeler (Shiloh Fernandez), brother and sister Brent and Michelle Burkham (Heath Freeman, Ashley Greene) and the legendary, wise-cracking, Kenny Crawford (Taylor Handley) as their dreams and carefree lives start to fade into an uncertain future. The personal drama marks the poignant transition of a group of high school friends into adulthood.
It’s the tire-squealing new trailer for Fast Five!
Fast Five catches up with career criminal Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and ex-cop Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) as they round up their team for a chance at a huge score.
The gang has to break into a police station. Not only that, but they’ve got an angry drug lord looking to pull the handbrake on their lives and driven federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) hunting them down.
This looks much like the first trailer, but delivers an excellent idea of what to expect from Fast & Furious: screeching cars, explosions, gun play and people running. What a kick it will be watching Johnson chase after Diesel and his cohorts. “The Rock” is one tough dude!
I am curious to see who is more studly than the other or who can drive faster: Diesel or Johnson.
since of humor is unique and genuine. Certifiably Jonathan is about 85-year-old iconic comic genius Jonathan Winters, a gifted artist who dreams of having his paintings hang in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. An art critic discovers him, and the Museum invites Jonathan to be part of an exhibition, a dream come true! However, disaster strikes
The trailer looks awkward, but there are more clips at YouTube, which I enjoyed far more. The movie looks great. What fun! I adore Jonathan Winters. His when Jonathan thinks he has lost his sense of humor and can no longer paint. Sarah Silverman, Howie Mandel, Nora Dunn, Tim Conway, Jeffrey Tambor, and many others show up to help him get his mojo back.
Comedy legend Jonathan Winters stars in Certifiably Jonathan, a comedy mockumentary that weaves in and out of the bipolar and surreal world of Jonathan Winters. Directed by Jim Pasternak, the film also features appearances by comedy stars Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel, Nora Dunn, Howie Mandel, Tim Conway and many more iconic comedians.
