The Super Bowl commercials are considered the Academy Awards of advertising, and these commercials are often so good that some people, like myself, ignore the show itself and just watch the ads.

Of course, those sponsors pay huge prices for those ads, so they ought to be good. Many movie studios try to get their blockbuster movie to be seen by the millions of people watching.

I’ve learned what movie previews will be shown during this event:

The Last Airbender
Shutter Island
Iron Man 2
The Wolfman
Robin Hood
Despicable Me
Alice In Wonderland
Prince of Persia
Toy Story 3

Pharrell_WilliamsThree-time Grammy Award winner and internationally renowned singer, songwriter, producer and designer Pharrell Williams will write original music for the upcoming 3-D CGI feature Despicable Me.  The collaboration marks the first time The Neptunes and N.E.R.D. artist will compose music for a film.  He joins in the feature’s composition duties by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer and Heitor Pereira.

Despicable Me, which stars the vocal talents of Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Danny McBride, Miranda Cosgrove, Jack McBrayer, Mindy Kaling, Jemaine Clement and Julie Andrews, opens in theaters on July 9, 2010.

In addition to the title track for Despicable Me, which debuted with the feature’s teaser trailer, Williams has already begun to write the film’s orchestral score as well as several other songs to be incorporated into the score.

When I inquired about William’s new duty in the industry he replied “I love cartoons and animation, and I’ve never seen such incredible 3-D CGI.  To score Despicable Mealong with Hans and Heitor and write original songs for the film is a dream come true.”

Pharrell is a contemporary songwriter, Hans (Angels & Demons, Sherlock Holmes) is one of the great film composers and Heitor (August Rush, Madagascar) is the next generation of Hans’ proteges. I am looking forward to the end result of this collaboration.

The world’s (second) greatest villain is ready to dominate… with a little help from his army of Minions!  The trailer doesn’t say much about the movie, but Minions are kind of odd and cute at the same time.

I am pleased to meet Gru’s little, yellow Minions who have taken over the third teaser trailer for the upcoming 3-D CGI Feature, Despicable Me starring Steve Carell and Jason Segel!

It looks like the Minions are in the story because no villain – even the world’s (second) greatest villain – can do everything by himself.  So it comes as no surprise that Gru has an entire army of not-so-bright Minions to help him carry out his diabolical plans. Hardworking and devoted to their leader and his mad exploits, the Minions are content to serve as his crash test dummies along the way. After all, Gru is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world…to steal the moon!

Despicable Me also stars Russell Brand, Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Danny McBride, Miranda Cosgrove, Jack McBrayer, Mindy Kaling, Jemaine Clement and Julie Andrews.   The movie opens July 9, 2010.

A new trailer for Illumination Entertainment’s 3-D CGI Feature Despicable Me has just debuted online!

The new Despicable Me trailer doesn’t reveal much about the movie, but it’s worth watching for enjoyment.  The movie includes a wonderful cast including Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Danny McBride, Miranda Cosgrove, Jack McBrayer, Mindy Kaling, Jemaine Clement and Julie Andrews.

Movie will be in theaters July 9, 2010!

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn.  Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout.  Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world.  He is going to steal the moon.

Gru delights in all things wicked.  Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way.  Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

The world’s (second) greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

You know what…the trailer doesn’t show any of this story. You can see it at Apple.

I love this story – I tingle with delight imagining the three little girls. It will enchant children of all ages, no matter how old.

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Little to the neighbors know, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout.

Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon, yes, the moon.

The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
