On behalf of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Screenhead is pleased to announce the official winner of Sniper: Reloaded, which is available on DVD and Blu-ray. Michael Mayhew is our winner. Michael says, “I would love to add this to my movies.”

It looks like Michael you will be adding Sniper: Reloaded to your movies.  I hope you enjoy watching the movie, too.

The movie is about Marine Sgt. Brandon Beckett, son of renowned sniper Thomas Beckett, must turn to his former protégé (Billy Zane) to track down and kill a mysterious sniper before he kills his next target.

Screenhead is very excited to announce the winner of the In Plain Sight giveaway valued at $130.00!  Karen Dittrich is the winner and Karen says, “Great Giveaway. Thank you for the opportunity.”  You are very welcome Karen. We hope you enjoy the giveaway.

In Plain Sight started its fourth season on Sunday, May 1 at 10/9c on USA Network.  In Plain Sight stars Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC), who relocates Federal Witnesses, most of whom fall into three categories: career criminals, whistle-blowers or innocents who had the misfortune of witnessing a crime.  They all have one thing in common – someone wants them dead.  Mary’s job is to see that doesn’t happen, while at the same time attempting to manage her own funky family. In the upcoming season, Marshall will have a new love interest; Brandi gets engaged to Peter, and Mary reluctantly helps plan the wedding!  Visit the official In Plain Sight website when you get a chance.

Check out what Karen won!

An epic true story set against the backdrop of one of the wildest places on Earth, “African Cats” captures the real-life love, humor and determination of the majestic kings of the Savanna.  Narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson, the story features Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother’s strength, spirit and wisdom; Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns; and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a rival lion and his sons.

I spoke with the co-director of African Cats, Keith Scholey about the movie before it was release. Scholey and I talked about how the movie was filmed, which still resonates in my mind. He told me that the movie took two years to produce. The crew had no idea where the story was going to go. They just followed the cats all day. If you have seen the movie, you know that how fantastic the experience is watching the story of the two cat families.

With that said, we did pick a winner for the giveaway! Our winner is Dave L. He says, “We love nature films and have been looking forward to this one. Thank you for the fun giveaway.”

You are welcome and congratulations! I hope you and your family enjoy the two African cats books – Sita the Cheetah and A Lion’s Pride.

One more thing, which I think is awesome, Disneynature announced that its “See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna” campaign will help protect more than 50,000 acres of land in Kenya’s Amboseli Wildlife Corridor on behalf of the moviegoers who came out to see Disneynature’s motion picture “African Cats” during its opening week (April 22-28, 2011). A portion of the proceeds from the opening-week ticket sales will be donated to the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to ensure the future of lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes and a host of other animals in the vibrant African savanna.

The area to be protected equates to 100 Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Parks or more than twice the size of Manhattan. The AWF will be working to establish the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor, a passage between the Amboseli, Tsavo West and Chyulu Hills National Parks that is frequently used by a variety of wildlife.

Attention movie buffs! Lindsay is the winner of Peter Weir’s The Way Back starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris and Jim Sturgess. Linday says, “Colin Farrell is a hottie!”  I am inclined to agree with her and he is very good in this film. He plays a criminal among political prisioners.

If you didn’t win The Way Back, no problem because the movie is available at your neighborhood redbox kiosk for only $1 a night.

Weir is a phenomenal director of such films as Master and Commander, Witness, The Year of Living Dangerously and The Truman Show.

Inspired by real events, join seven prisoners in their attempt to escape from a brutal Siberian gulag and make a 4,500-mile trek to freedom across the world’s most merciless terrain.  See what happens when supplies are scarce and they have to work as a team to gain their freedom. To celebrate this film, Screenhead is hosting a giveaway of The Way Back DVD.

To enter the giveaway, post your name and we will pick the winner May 2, 2011.

Screenhead has joined up with FilmDistrict and TriStar Film’s family drama Soul Surfer, starring AnnaSophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, and Carrie Underwood, by running a promotional giveaway on behalf of the film!

We have our winner Joe M., who said something like, “it sounds like a surfer movie.”

I really enjoyed reading everyones comments about the movie, which is still in the theaters. The studios put together a great prize pack to give away. With summer just around the corner, I’d love to have the package myself. Unfortunately or fortunately, I had to give it away to Joe M.

SOUL SURFER Giveaway Prize Pack:

- Two (2) SOUL SURFER Backpacks (one in blue and one in purple)
- Two (2) SOUL SURFER Sports Bottles (one with built in straw and one without)
- One (1) Copy of SOUL SURFER The Book by Bethany Hamilton
- SOUL SURFER Lip Balm and Sunscreen
- SOUL SURFER Digi-Clean wipe

First of all, I love the premise of this movie, and such a talented cast! The movie is based on a true story like Blindside, starring Sandra Bullock, who also won an Oscar for starring in the movie.

We meet Bethany Hamilton who was born to surf. A natural talent who took to the waves at a young age, she was leading an idyllic, sun-drenched, surfer girl’s life on the Kauai Coast, competing in national competitions. On a typical ocean outing a 14-foot tiger shark came out of nowhere and seemed to shatter all her dreams.

The true story reveals the moving aftermath of this headline-making story, as Bethany fights to recover and grapples with the future. Strengthened by the love of her parents, Tom and Cheri, she refuses to give in or give up, and begins a bold return to the water. You can see the trailer here.

We have our four winners for The Conspirator giveaway! Our first winner of The Conspirator crew bag and poster is Andrew Gordon! The second, third and fourth winners of the poster are DebP, M.Rogers and Karen B. I love what DebP says, “The movie sounds really good.” I agree with her. I recommend everyone go see the movie!

I have been following the production of Robert Redford’s The Conspirator because of Redford’s direction and James McAvoy in the starring role. The movie is playing in theaters now.

Directed by Robert Redford from a screenplay by James D. Solomon, the movie has some fine talented actors, including James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Kevin Kline, Justin Long, Tom Wilkinson and Evan Rachel Wood. I am very excited about the movie, and I can’t wait to see it.

Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken (McAvoy), a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt (Wright) before a military tribunal. As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son.

We have our winner!  Congratulations Ashely!  Ashley says, “My son is an Oliver Stone fanatic, this would keep him quiet for a bit.”

I wonder what her son does that is so loud. Does he play an electric guitar?

It’s amazing how many movies are available for download. I am truly excited to announce the Oliver Stone Films’ release On Demand including Xfinity and for Download including iTunes are available now.

Actually, I am rather giddy over the fact that Warner Bros. Digital Distribution honors the legendary film director Oliver Stone with the release of ALEXANDER: REVISITED for the first time On Demand and For Download in addition to other favorites he directed including Natural Born Killers, Any Given Sunday, Heaven & Earth and JFK.

The release also features films that Oliver Stone personally selected as his favorites including A Clockwork Orange, The Departed, Casablanca, Gran Torino and more.  See the complete list of Oliver Stone’s flicks and his picks available now and the reasons why he selected them on iTunes.

Along with the release, it’s like being in a candy store of Oliver Stone films.

You can find more on Facebook at Alexander: Revisited, including an exclusive interview where Oliver Stone answers Facebook Fan Questions, plus film clips and more contests.  See you on Facebook!

Screenhead picked the winner for the Your Highness themed t-shirt, cup and coaster. David Basile is the winner and he says,”It’s def[initely] gonna be a funny.” I not sure if he was talking about the movie of wearing the t-shirt with matching cup and coaster.

Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world—Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancee before their kingdom is destroyed. Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he’s settled for a life of wizard’s weed, hard booze and easy maidens.

But when Fabious’ bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the king gives his deadbeat son an ultimatum: Man up and help rescue her or get cut off. Half-assedly embarking upon his first quest, Thadeous joins Fabious to trek across the perilous outlands and free the princess. Joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman)—an elusive warrior with a dangerous agenda of her own.

Your Highness is playing in movie theaters, right now.

Here are a couple of funny Your Highness TV spots:

April 12th, 2011 in Actors, Book-to-Movie, DVD, GiveAways, Movies

Screenhead has picked the winner of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s DVD of The Tourist.  The winner is Linda, congratulations.  I hope you enjoy the movie Linda.

The movie is about a mysterious woman (Angelina Jolie) and a mild-mannered American (Johnny Depp) become involved in web of intrigue, romance and danger in this international action thriller set in the spectacular city of Venice, Italy.

The Tourist is available wherever DVDs are rented or sold.

I rented the DVD last night and found Jolie and Depp quite good.  I even checked out the special features, which has alternative, animated introduction to the movie.  I liked it, but noticed other exotic places the two characters were suppose to travel.  I am guessing that the alternative movie introduction wasn’t used because of the movie being scaled down to being filmed only in Venice, Italy.  If anyone has more information on this fact, please let us know.
