Starring Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon and John Slattery and directed by Liza Johnson, Return is an edgy film about returning to the States after combat duty. But, it’s not a husband or dad returning. It’s Kelli (Cardellini) who is a wife and mother.

When she returns home from war, she expected to slowly but surely settle back into her life with her husband (Shannon) and kids in the small town she grew up in.

Instead, she gradually realizes that the life she left behind is no longer there waiting for her. The trailer is very tight and tense as we see Kelli’s struggle to find her place in a life she no longer recognizes.

Cardellini’s vivid performance in this trailer  is worth seeing. You can see it over at Apple.  As an independent film, shown at Cannes Film Festival 2011, Directors Fortnight, Return will open in select theaters on February 10, 2012 and will be available on VOD on February 28th.

Did you know Kill The Irishman is coming to Blu-ray and DVD June 14th! I thought you might be interested in participating in our giveaway for the DVD.

All you have to do is post your name to enter the giveaway. I will pick the winner June 25, 2011.

The cast alone is a fantastic reason to want to see the movie. Ray Stevenson, Val Kilmer and Christopher Walken star in Kill The Irishman. The movie is an action-packed story about the rise and fall of real-life Irish-American mobster Danny Greene, which is available on Blu-ray and DVD on June 14th.

Written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, and inspired by Rick Porello’s true crime account “To Kill The Irishman: The War That Crippled The Mafia,” Kill The Irishman also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Linda Cardellini and Paul Sorvino.

Kill The Irishman is “an effortless crowd-pleaser…one of the year’s best films!” writes Omar Moore of Examiner.com. Adds People magazine’s Alynda Wheat, Kill The Irishman is “a gripping criminal enterprise,” while the San Francisco Chronicle’s Mick La Salle says “Ray Stevenson has enough testosterone to power a city block.”

Over the summer of 1976, 36 bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene (Stevenson) and the Italian mafia. Kill The Irishman chronicles Greene’s heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (D’Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the Mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Danny Greene’s infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn’t kill.

This looks awesome and the special featurettes are worth the DVD. The Kill The Irishman Blu-ray and DVD bonus features include the hour-long documentary, “Danny Greene: The Rise And Fall Of The Irishman,” featuring never-before-seen crime scene footage; interviews with the FBI agents and mobsters who worked with Danny Greene; as well as interviews with his family and friends.
