103_Saint John of Las VegasAfter a couple of emails I decided to take a look at the official trailer to the upcoming film Saint John of Las Vegasstarring Steve Buscemi, Sarah Silverman, Romany Malco and Peter Dinklage.

I am glad I did because this movie is funny. I really enjoyed the trailer and laughed hard. Steve Buscemi has always been a favorite actor of mine. It’s good to see him in a starring role. More often than not he’s in a supporting role and gets killed off.

The movie opens in January 2010.

When his boss, Mr. Townsend (Peter Dinklage), asks John (Steve Buscemi) to accompany his top fraud debunker, Virgil (Romany Malco) on an investigationof a dubious car “accident” near Vegas, John sees an opportunity to get a promotion, though he’s concerned about returning to the gambling game. Before leaving he becomes involved with his eccentric co-worker Jill (Sarah Silverman), a dalliance that has the potential to become a real relationship.

Soon John is on the road with Virgil, where they encounter a series of offbeat characters, including a wheelchair-bound stripper (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a nude militant (Tim Blake Nelson), a park Ranger (Jesse Garcia), and a carnival human torch (John Cho).  While Virgil is the supposed leader of the investigation, it’s John who begins to finally assert himself, pushing the case closer to a conclusion.

Steve Buscemi might be starring in “Boardwalk Empire,” Martin Scorsese’s drama pilot for HBO. Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City
Kelly Macdonald might star as well. Both are in talks to sign the contract.  So far, the deals are looking good.
“Empire,” written by Terrence Winter and to be directed by Scorsese, is based on Nelson Johnson’s book, which chronicles the 1920s origins of Atlantic City, N.J. Buscemi would play Nucky Johnson, a crafty businessman who operates a liquor distribution ring at the onset of Prohibition. The Scotland-born Macdonald would play Margaret, a smart Irish immigrant who married the wrong man to get out of her parents’ house.

“Empire” is executive produced by Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Winter.

Take a look at this cast for the movie “Youth in Revolt.” Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart and M. Emmet Walsh have joined Michael Cera in “Youth in Revolt,” the Miguel Arteta-directed comedy.

Film is based on the C.D. Payne novel.

According to Variety, Cera plays teenager Nick Twisp, who meets the girl of his dreams on a family vacation and destroys the trip trying to be with her.

Buscemi, who plays the teen’s father, most recently directed and starred in “Interview” and is recording a lead voice in Disney’s “G-Force.”
