The trailer doesn’t say much about the movie. Perhaps the title, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, says it all.

Steven Spielberg’s The Adventure of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn has been concealed in secrecy during pre-production. Principal production has begun in Los Angeles, which is set for release in 2011 as the first installment of 3-D motion capture trilogy.

Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell recently signed on to star in Tintin.  Bell is playing the titular character, a brave young reporter who relentlessly pursues a good story that places him in sphere of high adventure.  Craig plays the despicable Red Rackham.

Other cast members include Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.

The Abraham Lincoln biopic has been in development hell since like forever, and its star, like the rest of us, is in the dark despite comments from Steven Spielberg himself at the Golden Globes that the film is coming together really quickly.

“I don’t know (anything) other than what you know,” said Liam Neeson during the Taken press junket in Los Angeles. “He asked me four years ago would I play this part and I most certainly said I would. He’ll do it whenever he’s ready to do it, but it’s in the works.”

Neeson added that he hadnt seen any script yet, nor did he know how young Spielberg wanted the actor portraying the former American president to be. It can be noted that Lincoln was 56 when assassinated, the same as Neesons current age.

comics-old-boy Word came earlier this month that Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were going to collaborate on a remake of Oldboy, a classic Asian film. However, Will Smith has refuted the news story, noting that their new project will actually be an adaptation of the comics by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi.

Said Smith: “We’re looking at that right now. Not the film though, it’s the original source material. There’s the original comics of ‘Oldboy’ that they made the first film from. And that’s what we’re working from, not an adaptation of the film…"

They are currently looking for a writer to begin the development process.

A chance for Steven Spielberg and Will Smith to work together would be fantastic. They both hold their own brilliantly. Together would be a lava flow. Variety just reported that the two are in discussions to collaborate on a remake of Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy.  The film won Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

DreamWorks is working on securing the remake rights, and the new film will be distributed by Universal.

In the 2003 Korean original, which is a second installment of The Vengeance Trilogy, a man gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he’s released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge.

Spielberg would like to take this opportunity to make a film with Smith, who would play the kidnapped man if all the pieces fall into place. Spielberg is looking for a writer to begin the process of putting the production together.

DreamWorks and Universal Pictures have recently concluded a seven-year distribution pact that would allow Universal to release DreamWork’s films. However, the deal will probably take effect in 2009 and will include 6 films per year. For everyone’s information, the biggest player for DreamWorks is award winning director Steven Spielberg.

As part of the deal, Universal will advance DreamWorks the marketing costs of the films.

Spielberg began his career making movies for Universal and kept his DreamWorks offices on the lot. In a statement, Spielberg said: “Universal has always been my home base, so this agreement starts a new chapter in what has been a long and successful association. While it feels great to come home again, it feels like I never left, and I look forward to working once again with our friends and colleagues, old and new.”

The film will be animated with motion-capture technology, starring Thomas Sangster as Tintin and Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock. It is being planned for release late next year or in the summer of 2010.

I guess Steven Spielberg knows talent when he sees it or reads it.  He’s bouncing around another idea with Diablo Cody.

The Oscar-winning June screenwriter is set to write an untitled comedy script for DreamWorks that is based on an original idea by Spielberg.

Apparently, the studio is sticking to tradition by is keeping the story details under such tight wraps that even dealmakers were in the dark.

This not the first time Cody and Spielberg collaborated. Cody wrote the pilot and is exec producing Showtime series “The United States of Tara,” also based on an original idea from Spielberg.

Spielberg also thought-out directing the teen pregnancy comedy at some point in the process of the movie getting made.
