It’s not the year 3000 yet, but we’ve seen (and will see) quite a bit of cool technology happen within our lifetime. However, I doubt we will be seeing sky-high buildings and flying cars anytime soon except maybe on a big-screen, courtesy of everyone’s favorite director Robert Rodriguez.

He is currently working on a live-action adaptation of classic sci-fi cartoon The Jetsons which I grew up with.

"I’ve been developing [The Jetsons] for awhile," said Rodriguez. He hopes to start shooting “next year” and confirmed that it will be live-action.

However, it should be noted that the man is very busy with other projects, including the Sin City sequel, Predators reboot, the Grindhouse spin-off Machete and the upcoming sci-fi feature Nervecrackers. Despite all this, I’d love to see robotic maids and mile-long horizontal escalators in the sky on the big-screen soon.

As a kid l loved watching The Jetsons because the futuristic family made life seem so easy in the future, automation, robot maids and robot teachers. Just push a button and your meal is fixed. Although I must admit that The Jetsons reminded me of the Flinstones, but in the future.  The Jetsons Season 2comes with outstanding featurettes that the adults will get a kick out of after the kiddies are done with the episodes. Three-disc collector’s set includes 21 fantastic episodes of the cult-classic cartoon series from between 1984 and 1985. Includes a documentary featurette called, The Jetsons Return to the Future, which looks at the various ways that the second season was updated for a new audience, as well as how it distinguished itself from its predecessor.  Interviews include animation historians, cast, crew and others.
