I am delighted to share with you the new trailer and final poster for the Will Ferrell comedy Casa De Mi Padre! The Spanish-language film pays homage to classic westerns and telenovelas.

Armando Alvarez (Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire life. The ranch encounters financial difficulties when Armando’s younger brother Raul (Diego Luna) shows up with his new fiancée, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez).

It seems that Raul’s success as an international businessman means the ranch’s troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).

The movie opens in theaters March 16, 2012.

Is anything ever leaked these days, or are they actually released by studios in order to generate excitement and buzz. That was apparently the idea behind the leak of American Gangster one week before its wide release in the US. And joining the conspiracy is this leak of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The fact that it has been around for over a day and hasn’t been taken off the Google Inc-owned Youtube speaks volumes.

Nevertheless, it gives us a glimpse into one of the most anticipated films of the year. How people could have enjoyed the rather muddled and ultimately over-rated original movie is beyond me. That said, Fincher seems to be taking the right track with changes to the script (such as not making the trilogy’s hero, Lisbeth, a sidekick in the first film’s central plot). The trailer is a slick, music video-like clip complete with dominant song (Nine Inch Nails and Karen O covering Led Zepp’s Immigrant Song). However, it’s persistant cutting to the song’s beat makes it repetitive and fails to draw you into the story, and the music choice is a little tongue-in-cheek for the tone the story is trying to achieve.

Some claim Fincher is on a high at the moment, with the critically acclaimed The Social Network and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but if you can buy the glib and superficiality of those two movies, perhaps this will be to your taste. Then again, perhaps this may be a return to Fincher’s best work, such as Zodiac and Seven.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Sucker Punch stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Scott Glenn, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, and Jon Hamm.

The fantasy takes place in the 1950′s and follows a little girl who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather.

She ends up in a mental institution and there she starts to imagine an alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man.

The movie is opens March 25, 2011.

Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) shows her stuff, brilliantly, in Warner Bros. Pictures full trailer for a new take on the classic fairy tale Red Riding Hood.  The movie stars Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas, Virginia Madsen, Max Irons, Shiloh Fernandez and Julie Christie.

Seyfried plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Irons).

Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village.

For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Oldman), to help them kill the wolf.

But Solomon’s arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast–one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect…and bait.

This looks good for the kids and parents, nothing like a clever play on a classic story. The greatest love story ever told, starring…garden gnomes? In “Gnomeo & Juliet,” Shakespeare’s revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover.

Directed by Kelly Asbury (co-director of “Shrek 2″) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet. The title characters have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they find themselves caught up in a feud between neighbors. With plastic pink flamingos and thrilling lawnmower races in the mix, who could possibly not enjoy such a wildly funny story?

The movie opens in the theaters February 11, 2011.

Limitless is about a nameless copywriter (played by Bradley Cooper). He takes drugs to turn him into a super dude.  Then, the drug backfires and he’s lost in his own fantasy world or is it reality.

The copywriter is told that the drug will allow him to do whatever he wants to do. The drug gives him super human abilities. The usage changes his life. Meanwhile, the effects of the drug are starting to take notice, and a group of killers are following his every move.

The movie is considered a science fiction thriller, also starring Robert De Niro, Abbie Cornish and Anna Friel.

I am not into mind-altering drugs and Limitless backs up my argument. The movie has an edge to it and you can sense the edginess in the trailer as well. Bradley Cooper plays a copywriter who is introduced to a top-secret drug, just like any teenager, right?

The copywriter is told that the drug will allow him to do whatever he wants to do. The drug gives him super human abilities. The usage changes his life. Meanwhile, the effects of the drug are starting to take notice, and a group of killers are following his every move.

The Rite is, apparently, inspired by true events. The movie focuses on a skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O’Donoghue) as he reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican.  His skepticism leads him to an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), Father Lucas introduces him to the darker side of his faith, which we obviously see in this trailer.

Directed by Mikael Håfström (1408), The Rite is a supernatural thriller that unveils the devil’s reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth.

The movie opens in theaters on January 28, 2011.

If the movie is anything like this trailer, Kenneth Branagh has created a bolt of blue lightning.

Marvel Studio’s has released the first trailer from their next big film Thor starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba and Rene Russo.

The movie opens May 6, 2010.

Here is the umpteenth Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 trailer.  It pretty much looks like the others with some new footage.

I read the book and I don’t recall it being this dark or scary.  The story begins as Harry and his friends set out on their quest to track down and destroy the Horcruxes, key to Voldemort’s power.  They are on their own, without the guidance from family, friends or professors; and particularly, the protection of Professor Dumbledore.

Harry, Ron and Hermione need each other now more than ever, but the Dark Forces are among them  and threatens to tear them apart.
