CBS Films picked Vanessa Hudgens to star in teen romancer Beastly.
The story is about an arrogant 17-year-old who’s hideously transformed in order to find true romance directed by Daniel Barnez from his own script.
The plotline comes from Alex Flinn’s fantasy novel, a modern, retelling of “Beauty and the Beast” set in New York.
From Entertainment Weekly comes word that Zack Snyder has gathered an assembly of young actresses for his upcoming action fantasy Sucker Punch.
Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone are in talks to star in the film. Set in the ‘50s, it will follow a girl named Babydoll (Seyfried) who is taken to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days.
During this time she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help her get out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
The other four actresses will play Seyfried’s fellow inmates who also travel into the alternate reality.
In today’s first bit of comic book film adaptation news, Comics on Comics reports that Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing and Vanessa Hudgens is being pursued to star in Dead @ 17.
Created by Josh Howard, the four-issue miniseries follows a 17-year old girl named Nara Kilday who dies and is resurrected as a savior who fights evil monsters.
The screenplay is being adapted by Mike Dougherty, who worked on X2 and Superman Returns.
The New Moon hysteria begins, as MTV News reports that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has apparently auditioned for the upcoming Twilight sequel.
She reportedly tried out for the role of werewolf Leah Clearwater, Jacob Blacks heartbroken friend/enemy. It was indicated by Twilightactress Ashley Green that Hudgens, who had previously been rumored for the role, had taken the next step and tried out.
There is currently no release date for the film. Writers are presently in the middle of a rewrite of the script.
